Sports and human Rights

Through this program, TWISF documents cases of human rights violations that happen on and off the fields of play, conducts human rights awareness training, and human rights education to structurally silenced groups and persons in sports, and partners with mainstream human rights organizations and legal aid service providers to expand legal aid for structurally silenced persons in sport. TWISF works with informal justice systems and traditional cultural structures to address injustices in sports through mediation. TWISF further still uses sport to address human rights violations that happen in communities all over Uganda. TWISF provides a platform for promoting and advocating for human rights, as well as a safe space where structurally silenced persons in sports can use it to counter attack human rights violations, fight against discriminative cultural norms, and challenge systems of oppression.
